first soccer game

He was a very good goalie

Sometimes he did really well with kicking in a group.  Other times he stood to the side and waited for people to kick him the ball

but he did score 3 times of the 2 games!  This is the wind up

here's the winning kick

and here is the sportsman like congratulations between teams.  It was actually pretty fun and as long as the weather is good, it's a nice way to spend our Saturday mornings

gymnastics 2

Sydney's turn came on Monday.  She did very well, so any of you who want to donate to her Olympic future, feel free.

Jumping off of a trampoline onto a mat

balancing on the beam holding an object (stuffed animal)

She even went backwards

Jump across a big tampoline

got her "ankle twisted" and had to get piggybacked to the front of her room to rest (they think a kid MAY have stepped on the side of her foot, if THAT even happened)

recupperating with an ice pack.  You will all be releived to know she was able to climb on the rock wall directly after this.  She didn't even cry =)  so brave

gymnastics

Gideon and Isabelle were on a waiting list for gymnastics at the Y and I checked my messages at 1:52 on Sunday and there was one saying they had space at 2:00.  AAAAAAH!  we made the kids hurry and change and we just maded it, thankfully, since we live so close to there.
They had a fantastic time, though I must admit the balance beam was really the only thing they did that they couldn't do in our backyard at home.

For those of you who don't recognize this advance maneuver of Isabelle's it's called a cartwheel. =)

This thing just helped them roll until they did a back summersault.  It's only for this month, but they've all been asking so long, I'm glad we're able to do this before our membership runs out

Garden in the fall

Poor Parsley =(  why oh why did you die?

This is why.  Caught the culprit red handed
here are my geraniums still hanging on from early spring

our lettuce grew in here but it bolted quite a while ago so I planted some flower seeds just so it didn't look so lonely.  They're starting to tiny little blooms on them now
these two flowers were gifts from Sydney's sweet Sunday school teacher Miss Charlotte.  The one on the left isn't blooming right now, but it is definately still alive!  they made it through several hours before getting planted, but throughout the drought this summer they've hung on.  Miss Charlotte has basically a jungle for a yard she has SO MANY plants around her house.  She asked us if we'd like any cuttings when she thins them out soon, which of course YES!  I'm not exagerating when she said she had about 50 potted plants that she totes in and out.  That's  not to mention how many things she has planted in the ground!

Our first few berries on the holly bush proof of fall is soon to come

This beautiful potted plant was a gift from my hubby and the poor things are all scorched on the ends from the intense sun regardless of the waterings, but it's still growing well.

This was some kind of daisy I think, that had beautiful pink blooms, which fell off, and it NEVER BLOOMED AGAIN.  seriously?!   I've kept it alive to have a pot of green fluff.  Bummer.

these were Easter lillies.  Blooms are gone of course, but I'm wondering, do these come back every year?  anyone know?

And here are the ever constant roses that I didn't plant, and barely take care of, and they have thrived since whe bought the house.  Sigh.  At least there's one thing that takes effortless care during a drought!

the Lion King

My sweet mother-in-law decided to treat us all to the Lion King play while it was here in Wichita on Friday.  (Those of you around for my childhood may recognize the dress Sydney is wearing)

We were all VERY excited

The bongos that were played throughout the show

Grandma diane and the kids

Waiting for the show to start

We of course couldn't take any pictures during the actual show, but for those of you too far away to look through isabelle's memory book that she bought, here are just a couple of pages.  It's a beautiful book and anytime you all are here, I'm sure she'll show it to you.

It was a FANTASTIC performance and a great memory for all of us.  I would definately reccomend anyone with the chance to go see this spectacular performace with TREMENDOUSLY talented singers, actors and the costumes and sets were just impressive beyond what I can describe.

Soccer

Soccer was a win.  Gideon loved it!  His coach is very good with kids and well organized.

I think this one looks like a dance move =)

during their drills the kids were supposed to run as fast as they can, but Gideon was the only one who did.  That should make games more interesting!

"Seriously guys?  Catch up with me!"
