laundry room done

here are the final laundry room pictures.  Ryan had to cut the countertop and sand the edges so that it would fit in the room, and he did such a great job it worked the first time.  Phew!  That would have been an expensive mess up or a time consuming fix.  But it's all put together now and looking fabulous!  Thanks to my honey.  Here's a reminder of the old room. and the new, complete with current clutter =)

laundry room 3

in the middle of the remodel day, the kids played out front most of the time.  The ice cream man drove by, so we decided to treat them.  The girls got barbie type ice creams and Gideon's was Sonic.  sydney got sleepy and actually took a nap at one point in the day.  That doesn't happen very often.

peel and stick tiles were very simple to put in, then we grouted around them and we will seal it later this week.  We got a new light and put the baseboards back on.  Next up is the sealer, washer dryer, and countertop.  Almost finished!

Laundry room 2

The next step was scraping off the walpaper border, getting frustrated after trying 4 different things, crying, then finally gouging out bits of wall.  In the end, my brilliant husband sanded off what he could to make it smooth, puttyied all of the tiny holes (and not so tiny holes) that I made in the name of helping, Then painted.  The color is silver bells but it looked purple for several days

Laundry Room Redo

These are the redo pictures.  The first pictures are the oficial before pictures.  This all started when our washer and dryer died a little bit.  They worked part time, then not so much, then chose to retire fully.  Sooooo, we are springing for front loaders so that Ryan can put in a counter over the top of them for extra storage.  And while we're at it, we might as well paint the walls, and then you may as well replace the floors right?  Apparently Ryan has been planning on the for a long time, but just didn't let me in on it =)  so this is the first stage, tearing out the floor laminate, then scraping off the leftover adhesive  by pouring boiling water over towels and using putty knives to scrape it up inch by inch.  I told Ryan I felt like David and Carrie!  Always remodeling and improving something those two!
