Piper play time

Gideon stayed home from school a few days ago and it was a Piper day.  The outdoor cushions were inside because of a storm, so of COURSE that is a perfect opportunity to have a fort made

They are always very good about helping her to get up and down off of things (even though she's perfectly capable of doing it herself)

birthday

I had these beautiful flowers delivered to me from my fabulous best friend Laura.  I wasn't home and they got delivered to my neighbors, but I didn't realize it until the next day when I saw the door hanger.  They were just waiting for me to come get them I suppose =)  They were still beautiful the next day though

Ryan and I dropped all 3 kids off at a birthday party and we went to a new flower nursery we'd never been too, and loved it.  we found many plants that we'd never seen before.  the back flowers are geranium Ryan got me, but the white flowers on the bottom right of the pot are bacova and they hang down when they are bigger but they don't droop.  also the grass is fiber optic grass, which it has little white bulbs on the top of each blade.  we thought those were pretty cool.

These are anemones that isabelle helped me to pick out to add to the front.  it was a nice birthday for flowers!

ryan also took inspiration from Laura and I, and has been giving me a card litterally every day this month.  I have never had a birthday prolonged like this (in a good way)

plants and the yard

our seeds are growing and waiting to be planted, if the silly midwest would quit snowing, freezing, and hailing for a few days in a row!

ryan is setting up sprinklers in the back so we don't have to move them around all of the time, and just have them set where they need to be.  It worked well for the portion he did

the kids were "volunTOLD" to help with the hoses

The girls are enjoying this fun bench that our neighbor made and gave to us.  It's the backboard to a twin bed and scrap lumber he had.  With a nice paint job I think it will be really cool

And my creeping phlox is beginning to open, along with my tulips.  Finally, spring is here, just in time for winter to return again.  AAAah Kansas

The big freeze

Well you would think, now that it's spring, that it would quit icing and freezing.  WRONG.  these are pictures from the last ice storm which was of course more impressive in person.

i had to batten down the hatches just to keep all of my flowers from icing over.  I think since I've taken this picture I've had to recover them about 3 more times since because it won't stop!  we may get snow and sleet again tomorrow.

We brought in most of the contents of our back porch so the storm didn't hail on my plants and blow away the toys and outside shoes.  Good thing Tobie doesn't have to go outside very often

swinging with Sydney is fun no matter what your age =)

Granpa Waddle keeping syd company

They brought us a family game, which we have played before and enjoyed so the kids, especially Gideon, were pretty excited~

Best friends are a blessing

Laura gave me a month of love in Feb.  I'm not sure if I even got it all because she sent me so much stuff!

This beautiful necklace

A best friends token to keep in my coin purse
An Oregon purse calendar (plus obviously a LOT of cards)

I love the picture she sent with Mary, me, Laura and Carrie.  How appropriate!  I love you friend!

the planting begins

We started our planting now that the garden is ready.  It was gorgeous yesterday, so we couldn't pass it up, though as I'm typing this I'm watching the snow/sleet mix out my window.  Kansas.

Also from pinterest, we made our own newspaper pots that you can plant directly into the ground, so we could start our seeds indoors, then plant them later when it decides to quit freezing
